Google prides itself on finding the most relevant websites to place at the top of its results based on several factors. While search engine optimization is a continuous process, there are some relatively easy things that can be done to help any site to get better rankings. Many who have done the following simple tasks have noticed that these have helped them to rank higher on Google.

1. Reviews – Search engine optimization thrives off of link building. That’s why it’s important to create quality links. What are quality links? These would be links that come from relevant, informational content of some sort. An example of such would be reviews. Take a look at the orangesoda.com reviews, for instance. The links pointing to their website are from informational reviews about their company which mean they are quality, relevant links. This makes these links more valuable in Google’s eyes. Gathering relevant, informational reviews is one simple way to help get better rankings on Google.
2. Domain Name – The choice of domain name plays a huge role with rankings. It is essential to target the main keyword that you would like to rank for before selecting a domain name. By making the domain name include the keyword(s) you want to rank for, that will give your site much more relevance in Google’s eyes for that term.
3. Meta Tags – Something that really helps the search engines to know how to rank websites would be meta tags. This is a feature that allows the website owner to communicate with the search engines regarding what the site is most relevant to. That’s why it’s important to make sure they are done correctly. By carefully selecting and placing meta tags, you are helping Google to understand what your site is about and therefore rank you accordingly on the search results.

Ranking high on Google is easier for some niches than for others. Typically, in order to stay at the top, it takes continuous SEO work. As mentioned before, though, there are some easy things that anyone can do to help improve their Google rankings. Simple tasks such as gathering reviews like the orangesoda.com reviews, placing a keyword in the domain name and properly filling out meta tags can greatly improve search engine rankings.
