Ten Reasons I Didn’t Follow You Back on Twitter

tweetcomic 160x300 Ten Reasons I Didnt Follow You Back on TwitterWhenever I get a new Twitter follower, I always check them out. I don’t automatically follow everyone who follows me. I save up my e-mail notifications and make a few moments to look at them when I’m in between other tasks or need a break. I look at their most recent tweets, maybe check out their blog, see if I want to network with them in another way or add them to a list.

So if I don’t follow someone back, it’s because I’ve determined that doing so would not add any value to my Twitter experience (or they are clearly spam). Here are the most common reasons I don’t follow my followers:

Thoughts on Social Media For Writers

A while ago, I had my Twitter profile (@HaveANamaste) on my computer screen at my “day job,” and one of my coworkers spied it.

“You have a Twitter?” he asked in a tone that conveyed both disgust and amusement.

Why do you need a Twitter?” Given that this is someone who spends little time in front of a computer outside of work and refuses to join Facebook, it isn’t surprising that he would fail to see the importance of social media for someone who is, at least part-time, self employed. The Twitter Hack: How You Could Have Gotten Celebrity Followers

Interested in getting celebrity followers? Thanks to the celebrity Twitter hack, that was an absolute possibility not too long ago. A glitch in the Twitter platform was discovered which allowed for any Twitter user to make it look like celebrities were their own fans who followed their feeds. This means that the average Twitter user could have thought up anyone on the social networking site and added them as their followers. This unconventional method stirred up a lot of frustration throughout the whole site – especially because celebrities who had been solicited as followers were really getting the Tweets from the hackers’ accounts.
